Paisley Traditional Building Skills Event Features in Parliamentary Motion
The Traditional Building Skills Demonstration in Paisley on 4 & 5 September was featured in a parliamentary motion by Maurice Golden MSP who visited the event.
Maurice joined the school children visiting the event in having mini-masterclasses from the apprentices and lecturers who were demonstrating the skills. Ken Macintosh MSP, Presiding Officer, also attended the event and tried the skills being demonstrated.

Traditional Building Skills Workshop at Paisley Abbey
That the Parliament recognises the important work by a collaboration of several organisations to promote the uptake of construction apprenticeships at the recent traditional building skills workshop held outside Paisley Abbey; understands that the organisations include the Construction Industry Training Board, Developing the Young Workforce West, Historic Environment Scotland, the National Federation of Roofing Contractors, Renfrewshire Council, the Scottish Contractors Group, the Stone Federation GB and West College Scotland; welcomes efforts to increase female participation and that these apprenticeships are open to both young and older students, and acknowledges the importance of maintaining these high-skilled jobs for the preservation of Scotland’s most iconic buildings and cultural heritage.
