NFRC Roof Slating CPD for Glasgow City Council
Through the Glasgow Traditional Building Forum, Glasgow City Council and the National Federation of Roofing Contractors joined together and organised a Continuous Professional Development course for staff at Glasgow City Council.
Danny Graham from Graham Roofing (Scotland) Ltd volunteered to present at the CPD. Danny is a time-served slater with a wealth of knowledge on traditional slating practices and gave those attending the benefit of his knowledge on:
- Scotch Slate – Properties of – colour, size (random, thickness) and Supplies of Scotch Slate
- Alternative Slates available
- When to reslate and when to repair
- When to redress and reuse slate introducing minimum new slates
- When to totally strip and reslate
- When reroofing gives you an opportunity to retrofit insulation to roof voids
The CPD was very well attended and there was a lengthy question and answers session afterwards.
Thank you to Glasgow City Council and NFRC for working together to promote best practice in traditional roof slating.
