The Glasgow Traditional Building Forum held a very successful traditional building skills event on 17 September 2017 at The Lighthouse, Glasgow.
This event was part of Doors Open Day and gave those attending an opportunity to see traditional building skills in action and have a mini-masterclass themselves at the trades being demonstrated.
Roof Slating and Roof Leadwork were demonstrated by National Federation of Roofing Contractors with Stonemasonry by Historic Environment Scotland and Stained Glass Making by Glasgow School of Art. There was also a video of traditional Glasgow buildings and the Glasgow’s industrial heritage to enjoy which had been prepared by Glasgow City Heritage Trust.
Architecture & Design Scotland hosted the event and kindly opened its Library of Sustainable Building Materials was also open to allow those enjoying the event to explore a wide range of sustainable building materials.
