
Doors Open Day Event in Glasgow
There was a free to attend traditional building skills and materials exhibition and talks as part of Doors Open Day in Glasgow which was kindly hosted by Architecture & Design Scotland at The Lighthouse, Glasgow.
There were a series of expert talks for everyone to enjoy and ask questions. Experts were also be present throughout the day to answer specific questions.
- 11.00am – Alasdair White (National Federation of Roofing Contractors) Roof Leadwork – what to do and what not to do!
- 11.30am – Simon Roberts (Scottish Government) – The Tenement Act and encouraging owners to work with their neighbours
- 12 noon – Colin Tennant (Historic Scotland) Repairing and maintaining your traditional building; what you need to know
- 1.00pm – Michelle De Bruin – Stone Carving
- 2.00pm – Graeme Frame (Stone Federation Great Britain) How to Undertake Stone Repairs
- 3.00pm- Sash & Case Windows – Historic Scotland Presentation with Rowen and Scott giving a practical demonstration
There were also a couple of demonstrations throughout the day with Stacie Allan and Rowen Baird demonstrating 3D scanning & printing and joinery skills through their Heritage Lottery Fund Bursary Placements.
