Scott Miller from the National Federation of Roofing Contractors delivered a Traditional Scotch Slating CPD on 19 January which was fully subscribed and well received.

He covered the properties of Scotch slate – colour, size (random, thickness), supplies of Scotch Slate, alternative slates available, when to re-slate and when to repair, when to redress and reuse slate introducing minimum new slates, when re-roofing gives you an opportunity to retrofit insulation to roof voids (and the need for ventilation) and comparisons of finished roofs with different slates.

The CPD was very well received by all those who attended with an active question and answers section afterward.

Those who were unable to attend this CPD at Architecture & Design Scotland (held in both Glasgow and Edinburgh) do have another chance on 23 March at Glasgow City Heritage Trust (details how to book are under the events section of this website)
