Forth Valley Traditional Building Forum is holding an event outside Falkirk Trinity Church, Falkirk over two days showcasing traditional building skills which will feature local apprentices demonstrating their skills.
The highlight of the event will be the opportunity for High School pupils to be introduced to four traditional building skills by local apprentices, college and tradespeople. Each pupil will have the opportunity to have a ‘hands on’ taster session of each skill.
The traditional skills included are as follows:
The event is open to all and includes an information and exhibition tent which will be available throughout the two day event. It will feature careers information about training and jobs in traditional trades and information about caring for traditional buildings from CITB, Falkirk THI, Falkirk Council and Historic Environment Scotland. It will also have information for home owners regarding their rights and responsibilities in repairing and maintaining their own homes and also working together with other owners with whom they share a common interest to repair and maintain the common parts of their buildings.
This event is particularly focussed on raising the profile of traditional building skills; inspiring young people and also raising their awareness of the career opportunities which are available in this field. I am sure that you will enjoy the event and I would be delighted to welcome you and help us to make the event a success.
