SUMMARY:CPD on Traditional Roof Slating
DESCRIPTION:This National Federation of Roofing Contractors CPD touches on many topics relevant to the maintenance and upgrade of tradition Scottish slate roofs. It will be presented by Danny Graham of Graham roofing (Scotland). Please feel free to bring your own lunch. \nTopics covered in the CPD include: \n\nScottish Slate\n\nProperties of – colour\, size (random\, thickness) \nSupplies of Scotch Slate \n\nAlternative Slates available\n\n\nWhen to re-slate and when to repair\n\n\nWhen to redress and reuse slate introducing minimum new slates\n\n\nWhen to totally strip and re-slate\n\n\nWhen re-roofing gives you an opportunity to retrofit insulation to roof voids\n\n\nComparisons of Finished Roofs with Different Slates (especially those on terraced/tenement properties where the new slate abuts a roof with Scotch Slate\, good and bad examples)\n\nA&DS Material Considerations: A Library of Sustainable Building Materials\, in partnership with the Scottish Traditional Building Forum present this CPD series looking at the materials and techniques of traditional Scottish construction. \nThis CPD will also take place in Edinburgh on 19 January 1-2pm. \n  \nDetails on how to book places at: http://www.ads.org.uk/cpd-traditional-roof-slating-glasgow/ \n
